How we helped RoSPA hit a launch deadline with ScORSA-aligned road risk eLearning
The Need
RoSPA, through the ScORSA Project, developed new health and safety guidance for businesses managing people who drive for work, whether that’s:
- Employees who travel for work in their own vehicles, including those who regularly drive between sites, meetings or appointments
- Drivers of company-owned or leased vehicles, including cars and vans
- Professional drivers operating commercial vehicles, including LGVs and HGVs
- Operators of specialist vehicles and plant, including off-road, industrial and agricultural vehicles
- Employees who commute to and from work
This guidance comes from the ScORSA best practice guide to managing occupational road risk, which is backed by Transport Scotland.
They needed two eLearning courses to sit alongside this guidance, aimed at health and safety managers across local authorities, private enterprise, commercial businesses and independent organisations. The brief required:
- Full alignment with ScORSA’s guidance
- A format that would hold attention on a topic people usually switch off from
- A way to prove understanding, not just track completion
- Temporary hosting while their own platform was built
The deadline was fixed. This was launching at a live event, so there was no room to slip.
In short: how do you build compliance eLearning that’s accurate, holds attention, and hits a hard deadline?
The Solution
Skillshub worked with RoSPA to build two courses, sharing the same core content but each tailored to its audience.
- Temporary hosting on the Skillshub LMS while RoSPA’s own platform was under construction
- Presenter video, voiceover, animation and motion graphics used together to keep pace and hold attention
- A final assessment with an 80% pass mark, so completion meant the learning had actually landed
- Built-in data export so RoSPA could report results back to Transport Scotland
- Structured so the same course covers both initial compliance and future refreshers
