What is the difference between LMS and SCORM?

An LMS and SCORM are not competing options. They do different jobs. SCORM is a standard for packaging course content so it runs consistently anywhere, while an LMS is the platform that delivers that content to learners, manages who sees it and tracks how they get on. The simplest way to picture it is that SCORM is the content and the LMS is the system that plays it.
